What is a Pagdi or Safa? How important is it for wedding-season wholesale?

A Pagdi or Safa is a men's turban — a long piece of fabric (4–10 meters depending on style) wound around the head. In Indian culture, the turban has deep significance — it represents honour, respect, and masculine identity across many communities.

Regional turban styles:

  • Rajasthani Pagdi: Distinctively shaped with a fan-like pleated spread at one side. Bright colours — saffron, pink, red, and green for weddings.
  • Punjabi Pag: Large, structured turban tied with many layers — typically for Sikh religious tradition. Different tying method than Rajasthani pagdi.
  • Mysore Peta: Traditional Karnataka head piece — gold-bordered cloth folded and placed (not wound) on the head.
  • Pheta: Traditional Maharashtra turban — saffron for Marathi pride occasions.

Wholesale demand: Wedding pagdi/safa is a strong seasonal product — peak demand during wedding season (November–February and May–June). Ready-tied/pre-made Safas are available wholesale for convenience. ₹200–₹800 per piece.
