What is a Half Saree or Langa Voni? Where is it popular?

A Half Saree (called Langa Voni in Telugu, Pavadai Davani in Tamil, and Half Saree in common usage) is a three-piece ethnic ensemble traditionally worn by young girls transitioning from children wear to adult sarees — usually from ages 12 to early 20s.

Components:

  • Langa/Pavadai: A long skirt (similar to a lehenga)
  • Blouse/choli: Fitted blouse
  • Voni/davani: A half-length dupatta (about 2.5 meters) draped across the body, one end tucked at the skirt waist and the other thrown across the shoulder — unlike a full saree drape

Where it is popular: Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka. Very strong cultural significance — worn for Saree Ceremony (Haldi-saree traditions), festivals, and family functions.

Wholesale: Half saree sets wholesale ₹600–₹3,000. Silk half sarees for ceremonies ₹2,000–₹8,000.
